Educator Licensure System (ELIS)

The Illinois State Board of Education uses the  Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS).

"How to Enter Professional Development into ELIS" (below) will provide guidance on how to create a new account in ELIS, view and update your personal information and professional development credits.

Additional support can be obtained through the Illinois State Board of Education - www.isbe.net or from our local Regional Office of Education.

Under Teachers/Administrators, Teacher A-Z, click on Educator Licensure. This will take you to guidance documents published by ISBE.

As middle grade education has evolved, so has the Illinois licensure structure.  Changes are coming for those seeking  new middle grades endorsements.  These changes will be effective on February 1, 2018.  Click here for ISBE's reference guide, "The Future of Illinois Middle Grades".

Licensure information can change rapidly. Although we make a diligent effort to keep our website updated, it is advisable to check the ISBE website regularly.
