Lorado Taft Field Trip

November 14, 2016

On Wednesday, October 26, 130 5th grade students attended an outdoor educational program at Lorado Taft in Oregon, IL.  Lorado Taft’s classes focus on developing an appreciation, understanding, and awareness of the natural community by studying and interacting with the natural world .  Students participated in outdoor science and ecology classes on forest ecology, Native Americans  and  pioneering .

This extended day field trip was made possible through the” Illinois Biodiversity Field Trip Grant”.

On Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28th, 73 other 5th graders, along with many chaperones,  attended the “overnight” program at Laredo-Taft.

Students were able to attend the same classes as the “day trip” students, and also were involved in Instincts for Survival, a group simulation, Alpha Wolf, and night hikes.   And  of course as a time honored tradition, Mr. Evans was on hand to tell the “Timmie” story.
