Preschool / Early Childhood

East Moline School District 37 offers two preschool programs:

  1. Special Education Preschool classes for children with identified disabilities that require specialized instruction, small classroom settings, and intensive services.
  2. The PREP program, an at-risk preschool program for children who meet criteria for being at-risk for poor school performance.

The PREP program is a grant funded preschool program that serves 120 students,  ages 3-5, who have been identified through a preschool screening as being significantly at-risk for school failure.  The PREP program provides a half-day, 5 day per week, preschool program with class sizes of no more than 20 students per class, with an experienced, certified preschool teacher and an experienced, certified teaching assistant.    Once the program is full, children who qualify are put on a waiting list according to need.

Screenings for the PREP program are held every summer in East Moline School District.  Throughout the rest of the school year, screenings take place throughout the community.   Please contact the Special Services Office at 309-792-2887 extension 3, for more information regarding preschool screening or our programs.
