You’ll meet other change makers from area junior high & high schools.  -Students & Families may come for a night of self-care with the QCCAN Therapy Dogs, check out a couple of club favorite activities, and help us create our first Foster’s Voice change-maker banner, while our leaders tell you about the Foster’s Voice Club! -Today’s Moment in Black History: Alena Analeigh McQuarter - Already scheduled to graduate double-degreed from two different universities, this 13-year-old prodigy is going places! Next up, med school! In 2022, she became the youngest Black person to ever be accepted into medical school (University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine). With a passion to help other young girls enter STEM careers as well, she founded The Brown STEM Girl, which educates, motivates, and empowers girls of color to enter these fields. 2-26-24 Announcements -8th grade girls attending the St. Ambrose University event today are reminded to meet in the library immediately following period 1. Boyette in the 5th grade hallway after school. -Congratulations to Abobakr Fakhri, Dakarion King and Tyvian Collins for qualifying for wrestling sectionals over the weekend. We had 3 wrestlers miss it by a win and took 4th. They were Travis Kinkead, Elijah Hare, and Kameron Buehl. Congratulations to all of our wrestlers who competed! -Today’s Moment in Black History: Taylor Cassidy - With more than 2.3 million followers on TikTok, Taylor aims to teach her/their audience “Black History like you’ve never learned before.” Via her/their series “Fast Black History” and “Black Girl Magic Minute,” Taylor creates a community that links Black culture with joy and fun.  A strong advocate of inclusion and representation, Taylor makes Black history accessible on her channels, and once you watch one of her/their videos, trust us, you won’t want to stop! Ms. Abrams, a lawyer, politician, and voting rights activist worked tirelessly to get new voters and encourage everyone to vote. Her efforts resulted in a record-breaking turn out in her state. As a nominated Nobel Peace Prize recipient, her efforts were noticed and celebrated by many

Event winners were: Sophia Maess and Connor Adair. -Today’s Moment in Black History: Maya Angelou is a groundbreaking poet and author. One of her most famous poems, Phenomenal Woman reminds girls and women of all ages that you don't have to fit into society's norms, and it's okay to stand out and be yourself. Don't let anyone "box" you in.  Ms. Maya says, “it’s the fire in the eyes” and “the sun of the smile” that are two traits to being a phenomenal woman.

There will also be snacks for sale. -The 8th grade  Lady Gators put together an energized 4th quarter comeback, but needed another minute or 2 on the clock, to claim the win. The Ladys' are traveling to Washington on Thursday, Go Gators! -Latinx Workshop will hold an after school meeting today in the library. Mr. Lewis created his legacy as a fierce civil rights activist and  represented the State of Georgia in the House of Representatives for many years until his death in 2020. Mr. Lewis is known for encouraging people to get in "good trouble, necessary trouble," meaning go the extra mile to make people uncomfortable by standing up for equality for everyone.

2-14-24 Announcements -The lady gators could not come up with a Dub last night, despite their great effort, the ball just wouldn't drop in the bucket. We hope to get back on track with our next home game on February 20th, against Wilson. -Popcorn? Check! Drinks? Check! Snacks? Check? Door prizes?? Check, check, check!! If you're a One By One member you do NOT want to miss out on tomorrow's after school meeting to watch the first half of our movie. See you in room 113. Speak with Mrs. Mojica or Mrs. Newton for more details -Glenview will be hosting a staff vs students basketball game. Students eligible for participation will be the girls and boys 8th grade basketball teams. This event will take place Thursday March 7th starting at 3. Admission is $1 for students and $2 for adults. Students are welcome to stay after school to attend if they brought the cost of admission and can ride the activity bus home. Concessions will be open. Come cheer on our Gators in uniform one last time before they become Panthers -Builder’s Club is hosting a Valentine’s Day skate night tonight at Skate City from 4 to 530pm. -The next Builder’s Club meeting will be Thursday the 15th in the Health Room. -Karaoke club meets today in Room 238 after school. Which school appropriate song are you going to sing? -Crochet club meets today in room 252. -Today’s Moment in Black History: Happy Birthday to Mr. Frederick Douglass, the most important leader in the movement for African American civil rights of the 19th century. -Attn Lights ON students.
