2-13-24 Announcements -Glenview will be hosting a staff vs students basketball game. Students eligible for participation will be the girls and boys 8th-grade basketball teams. This event will take place Thursday, March 7th starting at 3. Admission is $1 for students and $2 for adults. Students are welcome to stay after school to attend if they brought the cost of admission and can ride the activity bus home. Concessions will be open. Come cheer on our Gators in uniform one last time before they become Panthers -Builder’s Club is hosting a Valentine’s Day skate night at Skate City from 4 to 530pm. -The next Builder’s Club meeting will be Thursday the 15th in the Health Room. -Latinx Workshop members are invited to celebrate Galentine's Day after school today in the library. Stop by to enjoy sweet treats, sisterhood, and work towards our HERstory event. Don't miss out on the fun! Speak with Mrs. Mojica for more details. -Both lady gator teams played well last night, with the 7th grade finding scoring success in the 1st half, but Seton pulling away in the 2nd half. The 8th grade team scored 4 times as many points as their opponent in the second half, but came up a bit short! What's the difference and how do students prepare themselves to make smart money decisions when choosing a college? Find out at the next One By One meeting on Thursday, February 15th. -There is NO girls basketball practice today or tomorrow due to conferences. -In honor of National School Counselor Week, here is our moment in Black History highlighting a famous African American in the field of Psychology. Francis Cecil Sumner is known as the “Father of Black Psychology.” In 1920, he became the first Black American to earn a Ph.D. in Psychology. In 1928, he helped found the psychology department at Howard University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).  Dr. Sumner published several articles on his research throughout the years. He taught psychology at several universities. -Gators Guild (Drama Club) will not meet today. -Art club will meet Monday, February 12 in room 102. -Reminder we will not have Lights ON for Learning tonight due to Parent Teacher Conferences. -Attention 8th graders: Still interested in joining the Washington DC trip? Laura Ross is the first Black woman to receive the honor as National School Counselor of the Year in 2020. She is the lead school counselor at Five Forks Middle School in Lawrenceville, Ga. where she has worked hard to establish her school as a restorative justice building. Ms. Ross says at her school, “We are leading, advocating and collaborating to change a system so all students feel connected.”  She is known as a true hero when it comes to helping students and staff grow in building relationships with one another. 2-6-24 Announcements -In honor of National School Counselor Week, here is our moment in Black History highlighting a famous African American in the field of Psychology. Brian Coleman, a school counselor and counseling department chair at Jones College Prep in Chicago, Ill., was named the 2019 School Counselor of the Year by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), making Mr. Coleman the first Black school counselor to receive this award. Coleman, a former actor, found his love for education and students while performing with About Face Theatre company and its youth talk-back program.  Coleman recognized that serving as a school counselor would afford him with daily opportunities to “support, validate and affirm the next generation of leaders and change agents. -Chef Club Group 2A will meet today for their last cooking class in room 277.  -French Club meets tomorrow in room 337. -Gamers Club meets tomorrow in room 274. -We will not have Lights ON for Learning on Wednesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 8 due to Parent Teacher Conferences. -8th graders: Still interested in joining the Washington DC trip?
