-The 8th grade girls volleyball team defeated John Deere last night in 2 close sets. Biz King was busy with 12 digs, Jillian Evans was solid with 4 assists, 3 digs and 1 kill, and Sophia Crouse had 5 digs, and 2 kills. Next game is Thursday the 12th at Seton. Good Job ladies.
-Are you interested in a career as an educator? Come join the Future Teachers of EMSD Club! We will learn about what it takes to be a teacher, practice creating lessons and activities and get a chance to practice our skills educating younger students. We will have our first meeting on Tuesday, October 24! Hope to see you there! Please see Mrs. Campbell for a registration form.

9-28-23 Announcements
-Drama Club is canceled for today. We will resume October 11 after fall break.
-The 7th Grade Gator football team won 14-12 last night. Shoutouts to Roan Malone for flying around and in the backfield all night. Kevin Mwansa for keeping the energy and focus for our team. Gunnar Speckman and Xzay Miller had great connections leading to the game winning catch. Dereon McDaniel had a pick 6 and a rushing touchdown. Good work guys!!!
-Last night Glenview cross country competed in the Heartland conference meet at Camden park in Milan. This was the last meet of the season for the Gators. The boys and girls all ran excellent races. They really competed well in all 3 races. Congratulations to all of the runners. The varsity boys finished in 5th place. The varsity girls finished in 3rd place. In the open race the Glenview girls finished in first place. Receiving top 10 medals were:
Faith Huizer - 9th place in the Varsity girls race.
In the open girls race:

Carmen Carlos Montes- 9th place
Bayan Nhar - 8th place
Aicha Mamadou - 7th place

Coach Welch and Coach Wils would like to thank the team for their hard work and dedication throughout the season!! It was a very fun and successful season for the Gators!!! The coaches are very PROUD of all of the runners and the future looks very bright for the Cross Country team!!!

-8th grade girls volleyball played hard against Wilson last night, they won 1 out of 3 sets. Sophia Crouse led the way for the Gators with 5 digs, 4 aces, and 2 kills. Lilyana Martinez had 4 assists, 2 aces and 1 dig. Mya Lewis was strong with 4 kills and 2 digs, Carmen Lewis contributed with 6 digs. Good job ladies!! Next game is home on Thursday vs Seton, come in your brightest neon! See you there!
-The 7th grade volleyball team faced Wilson last night in 3 competitive matches. Although they did not come up with a win, they played a great game! Kierson Griffith led the team with 6 aces and 3 kills, and Kayla Roman added 2 aces and 1 kill. Come support the girls tomorrow at home vs Edison.
-Today is the last day for Latinx Workshop and One By One members to sign up for the fall break visit to UW-Platteville. Permission slips must be turned in to the library by 2:30. Speak with Mrs. Mojica or Mrs. Newton if you have any questions.

-Chef Club for students in GROUP 1B will meet today, and Thursday of this week. If you're not sure if you're in this group, please check your school email or have one of your teachers check the roster.
-Pokemon Club meets today in room 307. You must already be registered to attend. Not sure, check your school email.
-Future Teachers of EMSD will NOT meet today. If interested in joining this new and exciting club, stop by Ms. Campbell's office to pick up a registration form. Forms are located right outside of her door. We need more students to get this club going.

-In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Roberto Clemente will be remembered. He was one of the first Latin American professional baseball stars in the United States. In the off season he returned to his homeland providing baseball clinics to young players. The Robert Clemente Award is given annually to major league players who exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship and community involvement. Vote for this year’s contender at MLB.com.

9-22-23 Announcements
-8th-grade girls continued their winning streak last night with their 4th consecutive dub against Washington JR. High. Several gators brought their "A" game and contributed to a 3-set sweep. Biz King meant BUSINESS with 9 aces, 4 digs, and 1 kill. Taqwa Khader and Eunice Logo were MEAN in the MIDDLE with 2 blocks each. Lilyana Martinez was RED HOT with 7 digs, 6 assists, and 2 kills. Sophia Crouse ate and left no crumbs with her performance of 8 digs, 5 aces, and 5 kills. Great team effort ladies! The next contest is at Wilson on Tuesday.
-The 7th grade volleyball girls played a great game against Washington last night, winning 1 of 3 sets. Kierson Griffith had 7 aces, 1 block, and 1 dig. Ange La also had 3 aces and great passes. Up next is Wilson on Tuesday. Go Gators!!
-Yesterday the cross country went out to Milan to participate in the Rock Island invitational. All of the boys and girls had great races!! The coaches were again very proud of the runners' efforts. There were many great times recorded by all of the runners. Leading the way for the boys were:
Jude Huber, Connor Adair,Alyas Long, Juan Lopez,Zac El Majdoubi,Kamil Ahmed,Emilio Terronez, and David Cobos.
-We would like to congratulate the Glenview varsity girls for coming in FIRST plave at the Rock Island Invitational. The leading runners for the girls were:
Faith Huizer,Chloe Glaub,Makela Anoumou,Alli Darras,Kylar Elliott,Molly Darras,and Maya Miller.
Our Glenview girls also came in FIRST in the Open race. Running a great race were: Maddie Dennis,Bayan Ahmed,Gabriella Azombako, Carmen Carlos Montes, Bailee Merrill, Aicha Mamadou and Briah Davis.
The team will be running in the Conference Meet on Wednesday September 27th.
-Congratulations to the 6th through 8th grade Mariachi students for performing twice yesterday at the Block Party due to the rain. They did a great job representing Glenview and enjoyed games, a bounce house, free food, snow cones and goodie bags.
-One By One and Latinx Workshop have 10 seats left for the fall break visit to UW-Platteville. Members should turn in their permission slip to the library no later than Tuesday. Questions? Speak with Mrs. Mojica or Mrs. Newton.
